Lake Creek Youth Camp is a non-profit organization operating in the Malheur National Forest by special permit from the US Forest Service. We cater primarily to youth groups and families, but also to other organized (and non-organized) groups and individuals on a space available basis. Family reunions are popular at Lake Creek Youth Camp, we can sleep up to 150 total.
We provide a rustic, yet civilized (Showers with lots of hot water and flush toilets!) outdoor experience. There are no TV's or telephones to distract you but an internet phone (via satellite) is available for emergencies. Tent and RV space is available, although there are no RV hook-ups. Some cabins will sleep up to 14 people and we have a total of 4 A units available.
Electricity is provided by a propane generator which is turned off from 10 pm until 6 am each day. During that time there are no lights and no water as the water is pumped from a well with electricity. When the electricity is off it is dark, so be sure to bring flashlights or lanterns.
We are located in the Strawberry Range in beautiful Logan Valley at an elevation of about 5,200'. We are about 30 miles south and east from John Day, Oregon and about 19 miles from Seneca, Oregon. You can also reach us from Prairie City, a distance of about 33 miles. All of the roads coming into the camp are paved except for the last two miles on Forest Service Road 924 which is a well-maintained gravel road. Trailheads into the Strawberry Mt. Wilderness are about two miles away. Rates include meals, hot showers, flush toilets, use of our lodge and grounds, as well as a place to sleep. Meals are provided during your stay.
Lake Creek Youth Camp would not be possible without the support of our volunteer board. Aimee Rude, Shannon Springer, Mike Springer, Krista Gehley, Carol Waggoner and Sharon Stewart. We welcome our new Executive Director Melissa Lounsbury.
"To provide exceptional hospitality for youth, families and organizations to gather in a safe and secure environment and experience the beauty of the Malheur National Forest."
